Two thick strings: E and A to the fifth fret

Level 1 asks only about strings 6 and 5, natural names. Not the whole neck.

For now remember only the cells without an accidental: E, F, G, A and A, B, C, D. Leave the cells with a sharp for level 2.

First the open strings: the sixth is E, the fifth is A. Each next fret is a semitone. Between E and F, and between B and C, there is no cell with an accidental. Between the other natural names there is one fret in the middle.

The heading “five frets” does not mean six strings. Today there are eight places: E F G A on string 6, and A B C D on string 5. The rest, accidentals and the twelfth fret are later levels of the same exercise.

Then Find the note

Open Find the note, level 1. Ten questions, no clock. A dot on the neck, the answer is a name. The board draws six strings, but the questions only concern E and A. Zero is an open string, not “fret 0”.

After a miss, go back to the open string and count semitones. Three seconds is a hint from Carter’s exercise, not a Guitarmatic bar. The series score is not a talent exam.

Anchors in Panie Janie

In Panie Janie there are C and G. G sits on the third fret of string 6. C on the third fret of string 5. At the change on the chord sheet, point to the anchor. A barre is not needed today.

Name a cell on E or A

The open sixth is E, the open fifth is A. Then Find the note, level 1.

Measure: after a miss you return to the open string and count semitones. The score from ten questions is not a three-second exam.
