Drums under the strum: a map of the bar, not a new pattern
The same four downstrokes: once with a click, once with Pop/rock 1. The hand stays the same. Listen for the kick and the snare.

Keep the strum simple: four downstrokes per bar, as in the first lesson on the hand. Only what you hear underneath changes.
Mute all the strings first
The left palm rests lightly on all six strings, including those that would be open in a grip. You do not press the frets. Avoid the fifth and the seventh: there you get harmonics, high ringing open notes, not noise.
If any string is left free, you hear its pitch instead of the pick attack alone. Then you cannot tell whether the hand is late, or the string is still sounding.
The click shows the gaps
Open the Metronome. Set a comfortable tempo. The address carries no number, so you take the tempo from the screen. Mark the start of the bar with a stronger accent. Count one empty bar, then play down on every pulse. No upstrokes, no grip change.
The click does not say where the kick is, or the snare. It only shows whether the four downstrokes are even.
Pop/rock 1 lays out the bar
Open the Drum Machine. The default preset is Pop/rock 1. Kick: on one, on three and on the “and” after three. Snare: on two and on four. Hi-hat: on every eighth.
Play the same four downstrokes. Do not copy every drum. The guitar stays on four even movements. Listen to what the kick adds on the “and” after three: the click did not have that.
If it feels surer at once with drums, check what helps: the snare on two and four, or the dense hi-hat between the numbers. That is a clue, not proof that the click is useless.
Back to the click, same tempo
Return to the metronome without changing tempo and without changing the hand. The first and third downstrokes may be a little heavier, the second and fourth lighter, the gaps even. If everything collapses without drums, one more pair of passes at the same tempo, not a new strum.
Then the reverse: drums only, guitar quieter, so you hear kick and snare above the strings. Louder accompaniment is not more even.
Then a song
Ogniska już dogasa blask is in 4/4 and has Harpagan (scout strum). On the song page switch the drums on, play a verse, switch the backing off and keep the same heavier strokes. The hand does not wait for the drum.
The same hand, two backings
Four downstrokes with a click, then the same four with Pop/rock 1. Tempo from the screen, no change of pattern.
Measure: kick on one, three and the “and” after three; snare on two and four. The hand without a new pattern.
